Colorbeam: the lighting system we prefer

Circadian, tunable, flicker-free lighting on a fully low-voltage, hardwired system. Our preferred lighting, chosen after SENERGY360’s own testing.

Why we chose it

Lighting covers two of the 12 CORE Principles for Healthy Building Design: Circadian & Healthy Lighting (06) and Low-Voltage & Home Health Integration (07). We wanted one system that meets both.

Colorbeam gives us circadian, tunable lighting that follows the color and level of daylight through the day, flicker-free dimming, and central control, all on a fully low-voltage, hardwired system (shielded CAT6, 48V).

Our review

We tested Colorbeam ourselves before we specified it, looking at flicker and at the electric and magnetic fields around the fixtures and their wiring. Based on that testing, it is our preferred lighting system.

Brian talks through why on Iconic Hour: Lighting the Way.

How we design it in

Colorbeam is planned with the electrical and low-voltage design from the first drawings: fixture locations, shielded cable runs back to a central location, and lighting scenes for each part of the day.

It is coordinated with Electrical Systems & Low-EMF Design (05), so lighting, power, and the home network are designed as one system.

Colorbeam FAQ

How much does a Colorbeam lighting system cost?

The cost depends on the number of fixtures, cable runs, and controls in your home. We price it inside your CORE360 Project Cost estimate, so you see it next to every other system before construction starts.

Can Colorbeam be added to an existing home?

It is easiest in new construction or a major renovation, while walls and ceilings are open for the low-voltage cable runs. For an existing home, a CORE360 Strategy Session can tell you what is practical.

What upkeep does it need?

Lighting scenes and schedules are set at the central control, so changing how a room is lit does not mean rewiring. Fixture service follows Colorbeam’s own warranty and guidance.

Is Colorbeam required?

No. It is our preferred lighting system, not a requirement. We design around your project.
